Assertiveness and Confidence building
BREAKING NEWS……It's ok to be non-assertive. You won’t be dismissed from work, excluded by your friends, or even thrown out of your family home because of it. In fact a recent study discovered that 73% of those interviewed admitted to being passive – so, you can relax in the knowledge that you are perfectly normal! However, even though it's acceptable, most non-assertive people would love to be more assertive. They would love to rid themselves of that ‘kick myself’ feeling every time they say ‘yes’ when really deep down they mean ‘no’ or when they are bursting to speak up in a meeting but for some reason the words just don’t come out. Or when they crumble when faced with confrontation and often leave the managers office wondering how they now have more on their ‘to do’ list than they did before they went in. Does this sound familiar? If it does and you want to increase your levels of assertion, self esteem and confidence then maybe this course is just what you are looking for.
This course is aimed at everyone across all levels of business. The session will provide you with lots of practical and realistic tools that you can use to reduce the amount of those ‘kick myself’ moments. Amongst other things we will introduce you to the art of “monkey management”, discuss how to handle those difficult individuals as well as identifying ways in which you can get exactly what you want from an individual or group. Don’t be scared off by the monkeys - they are all perfectly harmless!
What will we cover ?
- Discussing your experiences of passive and aggressive behaviour
- Identifying the characteristics, behaviour and attributes of an assertive person
- Managing the monkeys on your back
- The art of saying NO
- Dealing with confrontation
- Handling difficult people
- The power of compromise
- The power of influence - Getting what you want
We appreciate that most non-assertive people don’t want to transform themselves into being excessively dominant people. When most people talk about wanting to be more assertive, what they usually really mean is:
- Becoming able to resist the pressure and dominance of excessively dominant people
- Standing up to bullies and those whom up to now have always intimidated you
- Feeling confident and able to exert a little more control in importation situations
So, if you think that this course will help you or your team members to deal with these three areas and much more then we would love to hear from you. Just give us a call or drop us an email and we can have a chat about your specific requirements further.
